Alcohol can affect people differently. Some may become intoxicated from their first drink; others may be able consume five or more drinks before showing any effects.
People use acceptable social drinking for many occasions: dates, housewarming parties, graduations, weddings, birthdays, funerals, etc. People drink for many reasons: to calm down, to perk up, to celebrate, or to fight insomnia, and so on.
It is extremely important to ALL women to think twice before drinking alcohol! Studies show that women can become more easily addicted because they are more emotional. And pregnant women should be especially careful! Consumption of alcohol may cause birth abnormalities in newborn infants! Pregnant women should avoid ALL alcohol.
One too many drinks left you dizzy? Put your hands on something stable. The part of your ear responsible for balance — the cupola — floats in a fluid of the same density as blood. “As alcohol dilutes blood in the cupola, the cupola becomes less dense and rises,” says Dr. Schaffer. This confuses your brain. The tactile input from a stable object gives the brain a second opinion, and you feel more in balance. Because the nerves in the hand are so sensitive, this works better than the conventional foot-on-the-floor wisdom.

Occasional drinking is a good thing, but alcohol abuse is another story. A person abusing alcohol should enter alcohol rehab programs to prevent problems and complications.
